Fontaines D.C. have released “Tongue”, the second preview of Dopamine Chamber, their fifth studio album, due on 16 October 2026 via XL Recordings. The track follows “Marianne” and arrives with a video directed by John Angus Stewart and shot in New York.

The release offers another look at the album’s recording process. Conor Curley has explained that the band chose to save live-band elements for specific moments, leaving more room for studio treatment and sound manipulation.

The studio as part of the writing process

On “Tongue”, Conor Deegan built the bass part by manipulating tape speed, while Carlos O’Connell processed Grian Chatten’s voice through a sampler. Strings and orchestration also form part of that process of reshaping the original material.

Dopamine Chamber was recorded with James Ford across London, the English countryside and Palermo. It follows 2024’s Romance and contains eleven tracks, including “Where Is Gone?”, a collaboration with ROSALÍA.

Madrid and Barcelona just days after the album

The album release will lead almost directly into the European tour. Fontaines D.C. play the Movistar Arena in Madrid on 22 October and the Sant Jordi Club in Barcelona on 24 October, with the Barcelona show already sold out.

The scale rises again in 2027, with large outdoor and stadium shows planned, including two nights at Slane Castle and a date at London Stadium.
