Niños Raros turn neighbourhood heroics upside down on «Héroe Local»
The superhero in «Héroe Local» does not need a cape to become a target for satire. Niños Raros set their sights on neighbourhood vanity with jagged guitars and urgent rhythms.

The story behind the release
Originally from Ibiza and now based in Madrid, the band are preparing debut full-length «Igual mañana» for late 2026, following a 2023 EP.
The wider context
Dance-punk as more than a retro reference
The band point to Bloc Party and the nervy dance-punk of the early 2000s. That music gave basslines and drums a leading role, making songs work equally well on a stage and a dancefloor. «Héroe Local» draws on this tradition while finding comic material in a neighbourhood figure who takes his own importance far too seriously.
Humour helps keep the satire from turning into another pose. The musical urgency and the subject’s inflated self-image push against each other, giving the song a more playful character than its sharp guitars alone might suggest.
Niños Raros have been developing this approach since their first singles in 2022 and the EP «Encuentros Problemáticos» in 2023. After shows across Ibiza and Madrid, and appearances alongside Crystal Fighters, Mando Diao and Celtas Cortos, their anticipated debut LP «Igual mañana» will need to bring these contrasting singles into a coherent whole. This new track gives us another clue about its restless rhythm and irreverent tone.
The track follows «Luces» as one of the album’s more post-punk-leaning moments, with a nod to the dance-punk of the 2000s and the nervy interplay associated with Bloc Party.
What comes next
The group have shared bills with Crystal Fighters, Mando Diao and Celtas Cortos, and performed at Sonorama Ribera Goes to Ibiza. Previous previews include «Marcas», «¿Qué pasó?» and «x los dos».
Dates and practical details
Humour is as important as distortion here: a track about individual posturing becomes something communal through the friction between guitar, bass and drums.
Why it matters
At Mewsick, music is about more than the headline: following the songs, their context and the artistic decisions that shape them. Further information from Fever! Productions.
