Marcelo Criminal turns everyday frustration into a monster on «Falto de consuelo y oro»
Marcelo Criminal releases thirteen-track album Falto de consuelo y oro, mixing intimate songwriting with humour, Hulk and everyday fears.

The end of the world is a little less abstract when it reaches the housing market. On «Falto de consuelo y oro», released on 30 October 2026 through Sonido Muchacho, Spanish singer-songwriter Marcelo Criminal turns economic uncertainty, environmental anxiety and the confusion of personal relationships into thirteen compact songs. The record’s recurring imaginary character is Hulk, a figure of anger that seems powerful but is rarely in control.
A monster walking through Murcia
Marcelo’s fictional world is rooted in everyday places. «El tío que riega el campo de golf» builds on the unsettling image of a golf course being watered in a dry region. «No tiene pinta» contrasts the dream of owning property with a desire to captain a small boat. Instead of observing other people’s contradictions from a distance, the artist usually acknowledges his own involvement.
The Hulk references give this frustration a comic-book outline, but they do not turn the album into an escape from reality. The more recognizably ordinary the problem, the more absurd and unsettling the imagery becomes.
Books, television and love songs
«Romance del prisionero (Hulk 2)» invokes a traditional Spanish poem while worrying about the near future. «Solenoide» draws on a novel by Mircea Cărtărescu, and «s06e03» references an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. These are not merely cultural jokes: they provide alternative ways to describe isolation, longing and a sense of being overwhelmed.
Guest vocalist Juana García appears on «Organízame el apego», one of several songs interested in how people inherit habits and hurt each other. Later, «Andrea» finds a quieter personal focus before «Hulk final» imagines the protagonist leaving Murcia behind.
Humour and tenderness can coexist
After «La última casa de apuestas», Marcelo Criminal continues to build a form of independent songwriting that moves effortlessly between dry humour and emotional directness. «Falto de consuelo y oro» is both an account of frustrated expectations and an attempt to find affection within them. Its apparent simplicity is part of the language, not necessarily evidence of an uncomplicated emotional world.
