Portada oficial del primer álbum en solitario Una casa nueva de Miguel Rivera

After more than two decades fronting Maga, Miguel Rivera has written his first album without the band’s familiar framework. «Una casa nueva», released on 30 October 2026, arrives four years after the Seville group’s farewell. It is not an attempt to erase that history, but a collection of songs about reaching a stage of life one would once have found difficult to imagine.

Three years of writing and producing

Rivera spent around three years developing the record with Lost Twin, a producer whose work has ranged from María José Llergo to Rocío Márquez and C. Tangana. The result makes room for songs carried primarily by the voice, others built around synthesizers and recordings where production becomes a central musical element.

Despite that variety, Rivera places songwriting first. For listeners who followed Maga’s distinctive melodic and lyrical world, the interest is not simply what the singer sounds like without his former band, but which creative freedoms he now chooses to explore.

A house filled with old and new memories

The songs refer to childhood, family life, desire, friendships ending and the difficulty of recognizing one’s older self. Some ideas began in Rivera’s book «Sistemas Binarios» before finding a different life as music. The title suggests both a physical home and a new way of inhabiting memories.

Earlier previews include «Una casa nueva», «A veces el viento», «Ruedan por los raíles» with Rocío Márquez, and the more acoustic «Tierra en ti». They offer several perspectives on the same broad question: how do people change without entirely losing the experiences that formed them?

Recording the next chapter

The album was recorded at La Casa de la Esquina, mixed and mastered by Jordi Gil at Sputnik. Photographs are by Miguel Jiménez and design by Carlos R. Pinto. After his reflective «Mi Historia Cantada» concerts, Rivera now moves beyond revisiting his past to building a new body of work.

«Una casa nueva» matters because it is a genuine starting point for a songwriter whose previous chapter was already substantial. Listen to the album.
